Message from the NCCSE Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Executive Board

Dear families, students, and staff:

This year, we have made some noteworthy changes to the "Excellence in Special Education Awards" program. We have modified the nomination criteria and added a new category for our 2023 awards.

With parents and families choosing Social and Academic Inclusion as their number one priority year after year, we have embedded that aspect of Special Education into the nomination questionnaire. We added the category an award for "Excellence in Inclusion Practices - District/School/Program."

Now, all categories ask that those nominating (parents, guardians, students, professionals) consider their nominee’s inclusion practices in addition to all their other strengths and talents that enhance the lives of our students.

Estimadas familias, estudiantes y personal:

Este año, hemos realizado algunos cambios notables en el programa "Premios a la excelencia en educación especial". Hemos modificado los criterios de nominación y agregado una nueva categoría para nuestros premios 2023.

Dado que los padres y las familias eligen la inclusión social y académica como su prioridad número uno año tras año, hemos integrado ese aspecto de la educación especial en el cuestionario de nominación. Agregamos una categoria para premio por "Excelencia en prácticas de inclusión - Distrito/Escuela/Programa". Ahora, todas las categorías piden que quienes nominan (padres, tutores, estudiantes, profesionales) consideren las prácticas de inclusión de sus nominados además de todas sus otras fortalezas y talentos que mejoran la vida de nuestros estudiantes.

The scholarship submission period for new applications for 2023-2024 is open until March 31, 2023.

1. The Dr. Lynnette Robinson Scholarship for Inclusive Education - For high school seniors who want to pursue a career in special education or a related field.
2. The Bob Grundstrom Memorial Scholarship Information - For high school seniors who receive special education services.
